Mustard Seed Faith
Makenna and I were at it again! We have a lot of fun working together and just hanging out, too. But our time together almost always ends up in an hour long (or longer!) conversation about solving all the world's problems and figuring out the next thing to do to encourage kids! Plus, Makenna is just cool so it's always a good time!
She was sharing with me her heart for the next Life Group study of Luke. She wanted to do something that communicated the truth that it only takes a little faith to be in God's club but the coolest part is that God can use that "mustard seed faith" to do mighty things. I said, "How cool would it be to have a drawing of the actual size of a mustard seed and it says "actual size" then have FAITH written on it!!?" She said, "YES! Done!"
We laughed and our hearts were full because we just get each other and witness the Holy Spirit do some cool stuff between us. It seems to happen when we hang out.
And it was that easy. And we both love bright, bold colors, so it's a win win!
But the best part was seeing the kids wear these shirts. One kid put it on but then looked down and said, "hmmm, what does this even mean anyway?" Makenna was ready. She got to share her heart for it and within 30 seconds, this kid heard the mustard seed gospel, all because of a shirt.
Thank you Lord that you use creativity and something as seemingly insignificant as a shirt to love on kids. But I can't be surprised. I pray over each garment. I believe it is anointed because God gave me the gift to create and use apparel to share His message of hope and love.
Makenna and I have some other fun up our sleeves - like actual sleeves because its a shirt - hahahahaha. But really, we do and I'm praying that kids come to know the heart of their Father, Creator, Lord Jesus through it...
So how do did I do it? One of the goals was to make it look like an actual drawing on the shirt. First, I drew the design and then scanned it into the computer. I made some changes there into what you see on the shirt now. What is really cool about the way I make the screens is that there is a very fine mesh I use and when I print with black water-based ink, it looks just like a pencil drawing. I love that it has a super soft feeling, especially after washing it!
I had to make it actual size, of course, which is only 1-2 mm wide! But doesn't that just help the message? It is sooooo small, but that's where it starts. Just a little faith is all it takes.
You know what's also super cool about the mustard seed? It's pretty much indestructible. It cannot drown or be crushed. It is small but very strong and when put to its intended use, becomes a very might tree!
Wherever you are in your faith, allow God to grow you into what He intended you to be.
Grow. Become the might thing your Father made you to be.
